What is accruals and deferred income (pRAP)?
For payments or invoices made before the performance period, accruals and deferred income (pRAP = deferred income) ensures that income and expenses are correctly shifted to the correct period.

 

Advantages of automated accruals and deferred income
Without automation, financial accountants have to calculate and post accruals and deferred income (pRAP) manually, which is error-prone and time-consuming. Posting errors and incorrect period allocations can complicate accounting and lead to inaccurate results.

MIDbridge® takes over the automatic calculation and posting of accruals and deferred income. Payments that require accrual are automatically allocated and posted at the correct time. This saves time and effort, reduces the risk of errors and ensures correct accruals and deferrals.

By integrating MID Accounting Manager into existing systems, financial accounting is optimised and accruals and deferrals are automated and error-free. This module determines these invoices – at invoice item level – and generates monthly posting records for monthly or daily business analyses for analysis in the APP or transfer to the accounting system, e.g. DATEV.

 

Note:

  • Credit notes are taken into account; adjustment posting records are created for partial credit notes – with a date that differs from the invoice date
  • In special cases where the accrual postings cannot be created automatically, the documents are listed – so nothing is lost
  • Prerequisite: Invoices and credit notes are imported into MIDbridge® and managed there, regardless of whether the source system is a billing system (e.g. Chargebee, Solvimon, Stripe) or Excel / csv file

 

 

 

Let us calculate an example:

 

You are a SaaS provider with two great cloud applications (clients) and a total of 1,000 customers. You only bill all customers once a year.

 

You need about 1 minute per posting for accruals and deferrals. You need 13 postings for a successful accrual.

 

1.000 invoices/year * 13 postings * 1 minute
=> 13.000 minutes => 27,1 working days (each 8 hour)
